Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Afloat is private by design. Here is exactly what that means — in plain language.
No account, no servers
Afloat has no user accounts and no sign-in, and there is no Afloat server. Everything you enter — your income, your salary and schedule, your tax and savings settings, and your transaction history — is stored locally on your iPhone.
What we collect: nothing
Afloat does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal or financial information. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. On the App Store, Afloat is listed as Data Not Collected.
Your data stays on your device
Your information lives in a file on your iPhone that belongs to you. If you choose to turn on iCloud sync, that file is synced through your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud storage, encrypted and managed by Apple. We never see it, and it never passes through any server we operate. iCloud sync is optional and off unless you turn it on.
No bank connections
Afloat never connects to your bank. You log income yourself. There are no banking credentials to store, share, or leak — this is a deliberate design choice.
Permissions
- Face ID / passcode (optional): used only to lock the app on your device. Nothing leaves your phone.
- Notifications (optional): payday, tax, and reminder notifications are scheduled locally on your device.
Purchases
Afloat offers optional paid subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase through Apple's App Store. Apple processes all payments — we never receive or store your payment card details. Apple may share limited, aggregated purchase information with us as described in Apple's own privacy policy.
Children
Afloat is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
